Frequently Asked Questions

  • What forms of payments do you accept?
I accept Paypal, Zelle, and all major credit cards.
  • Do you take insurance?
No. I would be considered an “out-of-network” provider. Depending on your plan, you may have out-of-network benefits that will reimburse you for a portion of the session. You would pay for each session in full and then I will provide you with a bill that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. To check your benefits for out of network coverage, call your insurance company and ask the following questions: Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health/behavioral health? What is my deductible and has it been met? What is the coverage amount per therapy session? Is approval required from my primary care physician?
  • What is your cancellation policy?
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Scheduling of an appointment involves the reservation of time specifically for you. If a session is missed without notice or canceled less than 24-hours in advance, I charge the full session fee. I find that the cancellation policy both honors the work that we do and we know that when there is a cost we often prioritize it in our schedules. The cancellation fee is an extra incentive to help you prioritize the work that you are doing and your own self care.
  • How long does therapy last?
This varies widely per client. It depends on your goals and what we are working on. The length could be anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, or longer. But it all depends on what works best for the individual circumstance, the severity of your symptoms, and the effort you put into your treatment.
  • How is the therapeutic relationship different from other relationships?
The therapeutic relationship is unique in that the focus is wholly on you and your well-being. It is a very structured, boundaried relationship, which is what makes it a safe space enabling us to do our best work.
  • How often do we need to meet?
Therapy is most powerful when it is conducted at a minimum of once weekly, but can be up to three times weekly depending on your motivation, goals, and needs. Clients who commit to more frequent sessions make the greatest transformations.
  • How long are the sessions?
A standard individual session is 45 minutes long. Appointments are typically at the same day and time each week. Groups are generally 60 to 90 minutes.
  • Can I follow you on social media?
Since privacy and confidentiality are not guaranteed in these forms of communication, I do not communicate with clients through social media or networking platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. This is to protect your confidentiality and privacy. Social media communications have a high potential to compromise the professional therapeutic relationship. If you have any questions about anything in this policy, please bring them up in your sessions. As new technology develops and the Internet changes, there may be times when I need to update this policy. This website will also be updated to reflect any changes.
  • Is online therapy right for me?
Although there are many advantages of online therapy, it is not right for everyone. Remote therapy works best for those with mild to moderate symptoms (not people who are suicidal or in crisis) and those who are comfortable using technology. Having a quiet private place to conduct sessions is essential.

*If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts, get help immediately by calling the national suicide hotline at 988 or visiting your nearest emergency room.
